Explore The North Bali!!! Jembong waterfall is located in Ambengan village, Sukasada district, Buleleng regency, about 70 km from Nusa Dua or Jimbaran. From Ngurah Rai International Airport spend time around 2 hours 57 minutes. This place can be reached in 2 hours drive from Denpasar city or only 15 km from the Bedugul tourist attraction.
Jembong waterfall is not like any other waterfall in Bali. Most of the waterfalls are tall single (or multi) drop waterfalls while there are a few shorter waterfall walls. Instead Jembong waterfall powerfully cascades down many rocks in a thunderous roar. This has led to divided opinions about Jembong. I saw several websites that mentioned this as a top 5 waterfall. I was less impressed. It is nice to experience the raw power of all of that water though.
The existence of this waterfall is probably unfamiliar in your ear, unlike the Gitgit waterfall or Sekumpul waterfall, but the beauty of the Jembong waterfall is no less than those waterfalls. What makes it different and also unique is that this waterfall is not perpendicular like any of waterfalls generally, but it flows in a slope of 75 degrees, so the water doesn’t make a rumbling sound. This condition allows the visitor to enjoy a more relaxing, calm, and peaceful atmosphere.
The Ambengan village itself offers you another natural beauty of the rustic atmosphere and the view of a vast and green rice fields makes it worthy to be visited. Since there are not many tourists who know and come to this place, the atmosphere in this tourist attraction is still calm, peaceful, and private. But if you come in a holiday season, especially after the holy day or Hindu religion, such as Galungan or Kuningan, this place will be crowded from visitors, especially from the local resident around the waterfall.
It is really short hike up some stairs through a beautifully landscaped area. The waterfall is channeled next to the stairs likely for flood prevention. I cannot describe how power this water rushing down the hill is. It is amazing, the waterfall is at the top of the stairs with a small shrine on the left. There are also bathrooms available at the waterfall. Entrance fee in Jembong waterfall just donation suggested if people are there.
